It's Not Always Black and White.

Sometimes life looks one way when in all actuality it turns out to be something totally different! When my son was born 16 years ago, I had so many hopes and dreams for his future and now that he is older those hopes and dreams of mine don't necessarily fit what he wants for his life. I am at that point where I need to let go and let him make his own mistakes and chose his own path in life.

Don't get me wrong, I still voice my opinion and try to give him some guidance but ultimately the choice is his and not mine. As parents, there is only so much that we can do for our kids and then we are "relieved" of our duties much sooner than we might like. I knew that the time would come, however, I did not think it would be so soon!

I have to let God deal with Zach and his hard heart! It is something that mommy cannot kiss and make all better but I can pray for him. Keep him in your prayers too because he needs all he can get.

Today's photos are of coffee beans! I don't like coffee, but I do like lattes and cappucinos from Starbucks (guilty pleasure). These photos remind me that what you see in the beginning is not always the end result. I could not decide if I like the color or the black and white better, maybe you can let me know which you prefer by leaving me a comment! If you are a serial lurker, come on and leave a comment to let me know you stopped by for a cup o joe!

Strange, but I was just thinking the same thoughts last night and I went to bed really upset. My Josh is only 11 but lately he seems so different from the baby I cuddled in my arms when he was born. Maybe it's not the right word to use but I seem to 'dislike' him nowadays eventhough I love him to death. Maybe it's just a phase, huh?

I like the brown beans better because they look "richer" and that's how we coffee lovers want our coffee to be.

I can so connect with you and your son, we're going through it now too. It is hard, especially with college looming, on what he should do, where he should go, etc. My son isn't as social as I would like, but I can't change that for him or me. It's hard to be the mom of a teenager, isn't it?

It's hard when your kids grow up so fast. 16 is a hard age. I was a terrible teenager. I'm still apologizing to my mom and I'm 39. Keep you chin up. He'll come around. Teenage years are always hard on the parents. I love the photo's. The black and white is my favorite.

Hey Jo,

I gotta go with the B&W hands down. For me its not even close.

I understand what your going thru with Zach and will pray that God gives you the strength and wisdom to deal with it. Your a good parent, and what he will get thru it.

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Hi Jo!
I too am a mom of a 16 year old boy with a mind of his own! ;) I also have a 17 year old daughter. Boys and girls are as different as coffee and tea!!!
I like your bean pics, I'm partial to the color one.
By the way, thank you for visiting my blog, and for the comment, you are too kind! I look forward to reading your new blog, please let me know when it's up and running.

It's so hard to decide. At first I liked the black and white better, but when I took a second look I much prefer the color. I love coffee! :D

I pray that everything works out positively with Zach. You're so right - our older children don't always make the decisions that we wish they would. I think what we can take comfort in is that no matter how many mistakes they've made their "home training" kicks in eventually! Take care and don't worry.
