My Friends!

I have several good friends that I do yearly family photos for and I am so happy when I get to spend time with them!!  The kids are fun and they are now used to being outside to get their pictures taken instead of in a stuffy studio!  I converted mom and dad last year and now they will never go back!!  Maybe it is because I love what I do or maybe the fact that I take the kids on an adventure where ever we decide to shoot!  We never pick a location for this crew that is not fun and kid friendly, which is key when doing a shoot with lots of kids!  Here is a preview!  If you want to see more you can hop on over to my photoblog!

I hope you all have the best Monday ever!

Dear Monday Part 2

Dear Monday,

Maybe I was a little hasty in my judgment of you!  Today, you are being on your best behavior with great fall like temps, a visit from grandma and you are not rushing me off to be anywhere!  We enjoyed your bright sunshine on the deck and even ate our breakfast basking in the glory of your beautiful breeze!

I promise I will not rush to judge you again!

Take Care,
Jo

Next Thing Ya Know...........

You are waking up and it is Thursday!  Man, where did this week go?  Usually, I am wishing for the week to go faster but today, and I know this will cause and uproar, I need the week to slow down a little!  I know!!  Did I really just say that?

I was on track earlier this week but then got sidelined yesterday when I found out my cousin had been killed in a one vehicle accident!  He was only 35 and left behind 2 young kids!  My day was spent making calls to other members of the family and trying not to let myself crumble into a million pieces, which is what I really wanted to do!

So today is the day before we say our final goodbyes and I NEED to work on a session and do a little housework so I at least feel productive in this waiting period!  I do have more photos to share so I will try to find the time to get them uploaded for ya'll!

Move with U-pack

This is a paid post on behalf of U-Pack but the opinions are 100% my own!

Are you moving cross country and looking for a better way to get the job done that won't break the bank?  Try cross country moving companies and see how easy it can be! It really is simple because you load and unload and ABF does the driving! You get the convenience of a traditional moving company with the prices comparable to renting a the moving truck!

Here is how it works:  they deliver an empty trailer or container to your location and you have 3 days to load it.  Next, they pick it up and drive it to your new location where you have 3 days to unload it!  It's that simple and best of all you don't have to drive a big bulky truck yourself!  If you are moving check this out today!

Working Away

I am in the middle of editing a Senior session that I will hopefully be able to share with you tomorrow!  Just wanted to let you all know that I am not lost in the vast wasteland of blogworld!  LOL!!

Do The Reuse Challenge!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Aladdin. All opinions are 100% mine.

What is the reuse challenge?  Well, simply stated, it is a 30 day challenge that asks you to give up paper cups, bottled water and disposable food containers!  Think of all the money you will save by refilling your favorite coffee mug, not to mention reducing your very own carbon footprint and that of your family!

Now come the excuses!  What if I don't have a good reusable coffee mug?  Aladdin can help you with that by offering a great selection of products, discounts and free shipping!  You can also check out Aladdin on Facebook.

Still need more reasons to join?  Here are several great reason to join today:

  • Seven million barrels of oil are used to produce the disposable bottles Americans go through in one year.
  • In the United States, 50 billion disposable water bottles are consumed per year; 137,000 per day; 1,585 per second.
  •  It costs about $165 a year to make drip coffee at home versus $636 to buy drip coffee at your local café.
  • Unless we change our habits, 23 billion paper coffee cups will be thrown out in 2010.
  •  Nine dollars will generally cover a decent lunch out. If you buy rather than pack a lunch five days a week, you shell out about $2,350 a year.

My family is ready to accept the challenge!!  I want to make the earth and her resources last for my kids and future grandkids!  I encourage you to Do The Reuse Challenge too!

A Letter to Monday

Dear Monday,

As you know, I am NOT your biggest fan!  With your arrival comes 10 billion loads of laundry, shopping that I put off over the weekend and tons of editing plus the everyday cleaning that needs to be done!  Please don't take it personally because, I am sure, you would be a great day if you fell anywhere else in the week!  I mean if you happened, say, closer to Thursday we could be best pals but because you put an end to great weekends I am afraid that we cannot be friends at all!

I am sure that the right person is out there for you somewhere in this universe since you are so great and all!  Please don't be sad!  Really, it's me and not you that has the issues!  Well, I guess since we have nothing in common that I should be going.  Please take care of yourself and I hope you find that special person who will appreciate all that you have to offer.

Yours Truly,
Jo

Friday is Here!

This morning was absolutely perfect with the sun brightly shining and a crispness in the air that screams fall (my favorite season)!  I am happiest at this time of year!  I don't know why, but I am!  Could be the colors or the scent of cinnamon and apples that fill the air!  Aaaaaaaaaah, heaven!

Sorry, but I get lost in my own little world quite frequently!!  Anyway, this weekend should be fun!  Tonight we will spend a final evening with my sister in law and nephew before they head back to Florida tomorrow!  We will eat pizza, fish and start a fire where we will sit and char while roasting marshmallows for smores!  YUMMO, my first of the season!!

Tomorrow we will go to the Corvette show where I will take lots of pictures of cool cars and enjoy some good food!  Sunday we will wrap it all up with church and then I will do a Senior session in the evening!  Sounds like a good weekend to me!

I hope you all have a great weekend and I will talk to you all on Monday but I will leave you with some photos from a recent Bridal shoot!  If you want to see more, you can go to my photography blog!

Jumping the Line

Now, normally I post my photo shoots in the order they were taken and I have a couple that I need to share with you but I did our family pictures on Sunday so they are moving to the front of the line! No disrespect to my clients but it is my blog so I can line jump if I want!

Here are the grandkids!  Yup, there are three!  The two boys are only 7 months apart!  They are both seniors this year!

Here is my sis in law with her handsome son!  They are visiting from Florida for the week!

Wow, Jo, is that you in FRONT of the camera!  Yup, my friend Mike helped out so I could be in a photo or two.

If you have been around my blog for any length of time you know that I have a thing for hands and feet!

Here are those handsome boys again!  Are they really graduating this year?  I think they should still be the size of the Diva!

Speaking of the Diva, here she is in all her glory!  She did really well and did not give one Popeye smile!

My little family all together for a shot!  See I told you I was going to be in a couple!!  Look close because you won't see that again for a while!

The whole family together minus Great Grandma who could not walk that far!  Never fear, we did some with her up closer to the house!

See!  Here she is with her daughter (my mother in law) and all the grandkids!  Love the old barn!

Back to my obsession with hands and feet!  I could not resist this one because the boys are so big and she is so small!  She is so small in fact, that she fit in her big brother's shoe when she was born!

This one put me out of my comfort zone but I am still alive to tell the story so I guess it worked!

Here is my mother in law and her friend.  Don't ya just love the barn?  I am a sucker for a old barn!!

And last but not least, my favorite of the whole family!  Who can resist heavy equipment?  I think it worked out nicely!
Well, that's all for me today!  Hope you enjoyed a look at my family!  I will share the other shoots that I line jumped tomorrow!

Shop Adventures

Sometimes I have to go to the shop in order to spend time with the Knight!  It can be very dull for me, but for the Diva it is an adventure at every turn!  So while he does this:

We look for adventure!  Well she looks for adventure and I follow close behind with the camera to catch the wonders of childhood!  This time the excitement was over some new tires for the Corvette frame that the Knight is working on for a show!
Of course, these were taken before she attracted a ton of dirt to herself!  I swear she is a magnet for the stuff!  LOL!  Next, we walked around the building and she found a "castle" for her dolls!
And the last dandelion of the year!  Who could resist blowing all of the seeds off?  Certainly not her!  Notice the dirty face?

Then there were the dirty knees to accompany the dirty face!  Seems like a perfect match to me!
I guess now would be the perfect time to introduce the new kitty boots!  Last winter you got to meet Fred and Phyllis Frog (also of the boot persuasion)!  Now we would like to introduce to Carl and Katie Kitty!  She loves her boots!!  LOL!

So then we walked down the main street of big town to see the flowers and the Diva found all kinds to smell!

But my favorite thing was this sign that was posted on the wall of a building next to one of the gardens!

I love small town USA!  Hope you are having a wonderful week!

Things I Have Learned

This Saturday will be my second Blogiversary and I have grown and learned so much about blogging and life in general!  I started this blog to keep family and friends updated on our family but it became so much more than that!  I have met some incredible people through this blog who I now consider friends!  Some of my pals like Diana (we have hung out several times) and Harriett  (I still want to meet you in person) live 45 minutes from me and Lin  (drove 300 miles and stayed in a hotel so I could do their photos) lives in the same state!  Chuck has become a great cheerleader to me as has Petula!  There are others that are too numerous to mention but these folks have all changed my life, in some way, for the better!  To them I say thanks and I love you all!!

So what have I learned?

1.  Friends come in all forms and some you never meet in person!
2.  You don't have to be tied to your computer to blog every little thing!  Lin taught me to take the weekends off for more important things like my family!
3.  Encouragement can come from a comment left on a blog (thanks Chuck) or a card (thanks Petula) from someone you have never met face to face!
4.  Finally, I have learned that the real me is more interesting than any "personality" I could dream up and that being real is more important than having thousands of followers!

So, now you know what has been on my brain lately!  Let me leave you with a preview of a recent family session!  I just love word of mouth advertisement that comes with loving what you do and doing a good job at what you love!!

To see the rest of the family you can hop on over to my photography blog!!  Have a great week!

I'll Be Working!

Everyone keeps asking if we have big plans for the Labor Day weekend and my reply is yes and no! No, our family has nothing planned. Yes, I will be busy working! I have a shoot this evening and one tomorrow and the rest of the weekend will be spent in editing mode!

Last night I had a shoot to kick off the the full weekend!  This one was a challenge because of the storms that were headed in our direction!  Thank goodness the kids were good and we got done well before the storm came roaring in!!  Just one of the challenges I face as a photographer!

Well, back to editing!  I hope you all have a wonderful and relaxing weekend as we officially bid farewell to summer!!

NMEDA: Helping Disabled People Drive With Confidence

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of NMEDA. All opinions are 100% mine.

Most of the time we take our ability to pick up and go when we want for granted because we are used to our independence, however, there are elderly and disabled people who don't have the same luxury! NMEDA is a non-profit organization that is there to assist these people and they are there to educate consumers about buying products from an authorized NMEDA dealer!  They don't try to sell you a product but they do promote safe driving and equipment for disabled people!

NMEDA dealers must adhere to the strict safety guidelines as set forth by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and to follow the NMEDA Guidelines.  NMEDA's Quality Assurance Program is the only nationally recognized accreditation program for the Adaptive Mobility Equipment Industry.

Since no two disabled people are alike, an NMEDA Dealer will conduct a personalized evaluation of the specific needs of each person!  The Dealer will help to ensure that you have the correct driving solution that will fit your specific needs and lifestyle.  If you need extra training or customization, the NMEDA Dealer will be there to assist you!

Wouldn't it be great to know that you or a loved one could gain back the independence that we so readily take for granted?  Please visit the NMEDA website to find a dealer in your area!

Moms, What Would You Do Different?

When I saw this video for the first time I was amazed! I am thinking about doing a photo project using some local moms to see what the answers would be!

The one that really stuck out for me is: "You will miss your mom"! Boy do I ever!!!

The Nugent Family

We had a great time during this shoot and I am happy to say that no children were harmed!  This was one of those unplanned captures that was perfect!  To see more of this family check out my photoblog!
