Today is THE Day!

Yes, I know it's the 4th of July but it is also the first day of the rest of my life and I decided to make it better in the long run!  How?  Well, I laced up my running shoes and programmed my iPhone with some great music, set the alarm for 6 AM and took off running.  I ran 2.14 miles in 35 minutes which is not bad for my first run in over 5 years!

I have set some goals for myself to achieve along the way including (but not limited to):  weight loss, cholesterol under normal limits, lower my resting heart rate (I have sinus tachycardia & SVT) and last but not least, I want to run a 5K next summer!  There!  My goals are on paper!  I have also signed up on a website to run for 100 days straight, 30 minutes at a time! 

I got this cool little app on my phone that tracks every run I take as soon as I hit the start button!  It gives me updates on distance, speed, incline and pace every 5 minutes so I know what I need to do to better myself!  If you want to follow my progress on a daily basis then you can check me out on Facebook!  It will automatically post my run with all the gory details including calories burned!

I guess the moral of the story is:  if I can start at 43 then you can start at whatever your age is!  Get out there folks and get moving!  See you at the finish line!

EPIC FAIL!

Wah, wah, wah...............So I told you the other day that the Moody Teen had his final concerts of his High School career and I was all set to be the doting mom with camera (and Diva) in tow.  I got to the school, found my seat and proceeded to get my gear ready for some marathon picture taking of my Senior in all his glory (1 vocal solo, 1 vocal duet and 4 trumpet solos) when my heart dropped out of my chest and hit the floor with a palpable thud!  I had my camera, my 2 favorites lenses, a flash and extra batteries but not 1 memory card!  The concert was starting in 10 minutes and there was no time to run home!  Wow, I cannot believe I did this, but I did!  To top it all off, I didn't even have my point and shoot that I carry in my purse because I just tossed my wallet into my camera bag and took off. 

Let's recap:  No memory cards, no point and shoot, now what?  My trusty iPhone4!  Yup, that's all I had to capture this moment that would soon be history!  I cried my was through the first couple of songs and then realized that there was nothing I could do but enjoy the night and try not to beat myself up for being an epic failure!  I did manage to get one song on video using my phone so that helped a little!  When I told the Moody Teen what I had done, he just laughed!  I was relieved that he didn't seem to mind my failure. 

Lesson learned!  I ordered 4 more memory cards to carry in my bag for back up of my back ups!

Update day!

Sorry, I have not been around but the weather here has been glorious with sun and above 70 degree temps for the start of November! I cannot believe how beautiful it has been and I am just waiting for the other shoe to drop and the snow to start flying!! I know, bite my tongue right!!

So today we spent the day outside enjoying this beautiful weather while it lasts and while I have been checking email and Facebook on my new I Phone, I have not taken to typing a post on my cute little gadget! Yes, I am a gadget girl which was confirmed by my husband last night when he told me I was spoiled! Really, I am just a techie geek at heart and I do love my little toys! I have already transferred all my music and purchased some new, downloaded apps like flashlight, Photoshop mobile, The Weather Channel (gotta know what it is going to do for future shoots), Doodle which is like etchasketch, WBGL (our local Christian music station)and bejeweled! I have just begun to learn all that this little work horse can do for me and since I use it for my business, I can write it off!

I am sure that after church tomorrow I will spend the day much like today!! Enjoying the weather and hanging with the family, well most of them since the Moody Teen has to work! Enjoy your Sunday and stop by soon for some I Phone photo fun!!
