The Diva and the Potty Training Saga!

Today is day number three of the great potty training saga! Let me bring you up to speed: about a week ago, the Diva told the moody teen "I don't want to potty train!". Yeah, we got a good laugh but in the back of my mind I was calculating the cost of Depends for a teenage girl! Seriously, I was thinking this girl does not want to do this so it is not going to happen any time soon!

So, we started on Tuesday (NEVER start anything on a Monday) we put on her new Dora the Explorer underwear and I took her to potty every 15 minutes! The girl did not potty once! Not in her potty or her underwear that is until 4:30 PM when after sitting on her potty, she pulled up her pants and peed! Ugh!! She did it again 15 minutes later after getting off the potty! Sigh, this is never going to work! End of day one we put a diaper on for bed and called it quits for the day.

Day two, put on Tinkerbell underwear and started the process over again. She went in the potty chair and we celebrated with a potty dance and a new butterfly sticker! Then before lunch she comes to me with something on her hand that looked like very thick brownie batter! OH NO, she had pooped in her underwear and stuck her hand in it! EEEEEEEEEWE gross! So we put a fresh pair of Tinkerbell's and continued. She ate lunch and took a nap (woke up dry) and went in the potty chair!! Potty dance and Tinkerbell sticker for a reward!! She even went to Praise team practice with me and stayed dry and clean!

Day three, woke up dry, used potty, got dance and sticker (Nemo), put on big girl underwear with hearts and that is wear we find ourselves as I type! She is getting it! There will be no Depends for my girl when she is a teen! Wow, I am just glad we are both stubborn and I can go head to head with this toddler who is wanting to do things her way or no way!

By the way, stickers are not her only collateral! I told her she has to be potty trained before she can go to dance class!!!

A Little About A Lot!!

This is one of those mixed bag type posts where you just kind of throw everything in together and run with it!! Here we go:

I am so proud of my knight in shining armor because he made the Dean's list!!! He got three A's and one B all while working and doing those annoying honey do chores that keep him from having lots of spare time to study!! While talking about grades, the moody teen also got on the honors list at school! My guys are so smart (most of the time)!!

The darling diva has taken to singing along with mommy! She must pay really close attention when I rehearse or maybe I do it so much that it is just ingrained in her brain!! Enjoy the video of her singing with me!! That's the good, but.....................you knew it couldn't all be good right? Well, the diva is so not taking to potty training AT ALL!! Yesterday morning we got up and went straight to the potty where she sat for 3 or 4 minutes with nothing happening!! So I pull up her jammie pants and went to get her milk and banana, I thought she would be fine but OOOOOOOH NOOOOOOOOO, she peed her pants!! Ugh, she just got up from the potty! So we go about the day and I look at her at one point and here is the conversation that followed:

me: What are you doing?
diva: Pooping!
me: Why didn't you tell me? Let's go potty!
diva: I'm done! Diapee change please!
me: sigh...........................

Oh my gosh, she is so smart and STUBBORN (she gets it from her father although he will tell you otherwise)!! How do you handle a smart, strong-willed child?? I don't even beging to know!! I guess we will keep trying and find out what she wants (bribery works right) in return for using the potty like a big girl!

The diva will be taking over again tomorrow and boy I am sure that she has tons to tell you about some exciting happenings in her little life!!

Sadie is my Muse!

We all have a muse in our lives and Sadie is mine! She is so funny and always knows what to do to make me smile! What a personality she has! She is also very smart! She can already count to 8 and she is not even two yet and she can talk circles around anyone! My fear is, that by the time she is 16, I will be really stupid (in her eyes)!

A couple of days ago, we went shopping for "big girl" undies to start the potty training process. She was very pleased with her selection of Dora and bright colored undies and proudly showed them to everyone we passed (I hope this ends before she is a teenager)! I hate the thought of this process beginning because it means she is no longer a baby! I know it is the next logical step in her little life but it still makes me a little blue!

Today's photos are of my little muse! She loves her little Crayola Crayon people that are perfect for her little hands. The last photo is Sadie and out bully baby, Zoe! They love to cuddle on the couch!
By the way, today is hubby's 36th birthday! Happy Birthday Spencer, I love you very much!

Fire in the Sky!

This was an accidental photo that I saw the other night as we were coming home from who knows where! I saw it as we pulled in the driveway and ran into the house to grab my camera to capture the moment! To me it looks like the sky is on fire!

It was a lazy weekend so today it is back to business as usual with the cleaning and laundry and all that lovely work that doesn't get done if I don't do it! Spencer starts school tomorrow and I am preparing to start out potty training adventure with Sadie! I plan on starting slow and working into it, besides, I don't think they make "big girl" panties in size 12 months (yes she is still a peanut).

Zach survived his weekend at the U of I for the High School Theatre Festival and is still on cloud nine from all of the great shows he saw! Boy do I miss those carefree days when I didn't have to worry about stuff!
Check back tomorrow for tip Tuesday! Here is a hint: wear some old clothes.
