I Want To Be Like Josh!

Josh is amazing, at least he is to me! Most people look at him and see a mentally handicapped young man with a love of people and music but I see Josh! I met Josh and his mom Vickie several months ago when I joined the praise team at our church. Josh and I shared an immediate connection. He loves to sit at my feet, hold my hand, clap with me and play with my toes when I wear flip flops. Josh has a very sweet spirit about him and I am always happy to see him because he makes me want to be a better person, in fact, I told our Pastor that there are times when I wish that I were Josh! Josh is in pain most of the time but he always has a smile for everyone he sees! Josh cannot communicate effectively but what he does convey is love! Josh is fun to be with and believe me he is a people person! When the praise team does an upbeat song, Josh claps, dances and taps his toes to the beat in perfect time (I think he was destined to be a drummer)! His favorite song is "We are going to see the King." I am not even sure that is the correct title!

I love to take pictures of Josh because he always doing profound things that are just so adorable. The shot above was taken by Kay on her cell phone because I never seem to have my camera at the right moment! Josh is kneeling at the alter looking up at a HUGE, round, stained glass window with Jesus in the center. He is always looking at this window and "talking" to himself and I just have to wonder what is on his mind! I really think that he KNOWS who Jesus is and what he did for us.

To me Josh is perfect! God knew what He was doing when He created Josh and He also knew what He was doing when He gave Josh to Vickie, who is a very strong, Christian woman! Josh could not ask for a better Mom! When I grow up, I want to be just like Josh: happy, caring, trusting and most of all knowing. Josh knows! Do YOU?
